Song Finisher. Detail Obsessive. Your music’s biggest advocate.
Mixing, Mastering & Production // Rock, Heavy & Alt Pop // Seattle, WA
You’ve got the songs, but something’s still missing…
Not the talent, not the work ethic. You’ve got those.
It’s more like…your songs are right there. You feel how close they are, but there’s still a gap between how your music sounds and how your favorite albums sound.
Maybe a past studio experience took things in the wrong direction, and some of your unique artistic qualities were lost in an effort to sound polished. Or maybe, you’re doing production at home and the results are close, but you know close isn’t enough for listeners to connect with your music.
By now, you’ve realized that raw talent alone isn’t enough to carry you. You’re looking for a creative partner and musical advocate. You need someone who can see what you’re building and protect the things that make it unique, all while still sounding competitive.
Hey, I’m Tyler.
I’m a Seattle-based mixer, mastering engineer and producer who helps rock, heavy, and alt-pop artists turn their songs into immersive sonic experiences. My work rests on two pillars that seem contradictory but work together: unflinching attention to detail, and genuine partnership. But honestly, that only tells half the story…
-
You see, I spent some years as a musician—tours, shows, recording sessions, cold pizza, sweaty van life, the whole thing. Before that, I also spent years in concert bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras and choirs.
While I was grinding to be a performer, I had also picked up a mic and started recording stuff for my various projects before I even hit my teens. Call it an accident, but eventually that drive to be in a band morphed into a passion and skillset for production that simply eclipsed everything else.
Because of this, I bring together some things you won’t always find: the lived experience of chasing the dream you’re chasing right now, an ear that was developed while hearing 100 (give or take) musicians blend in real time, a fiercely DIY work ethic, and the grit to keep going until we get it right.
“Having once experienced my dream of touring the country, I now want to support others in that dream too.”
This is why I care so much about the people I work with and the music they’re making. The best projects I’ve been part of are the ones where we stop feeling like contractor and client, and start feeling like teammates who are building something together.
How I Approach Your Music
I start with the feeling, not technical stuff
Before anything technical happens, I want to know what the finished record should feel like. Of course I want to know who your favorite bands are, but also what is the emotional experience at hand? What is the story you are telling? How should the listener feel? That becomes the anchor for every decision—arrangement, tones, performances, mix. It’s how a record stays cohesive, and it’s how I make sure the details we obsess over are always serving your vision.
I notice things many producers don’t
If your band brings in a pile of guitar layers and vocal harmonies, I can hear through the clutter and know which parts are helping and which aren’t. This instinct for sonic architecture is a byproduct of my years in ensembles, and it’s turned out to be one of the most valuable things I bring to a session.
I’ll push you, and you’ll be glad I did
I’ll ask for one more take when I know there’s a better one in you. I’ll challenge an arrangement idea if I think something stronger is hiding underneath. But, I’ll never make the room feel tense or clinical. The artists I work with consistently say they delivered their best performances here—not because they were pressured, but because they felt safe enough to go there.
“I balance being a coach who pushes artists to the edge of their abilities, with an empathetic spirit that puts them at ease.”
I don’t disappear after the session
There’s an old phrase, “a rising tide raises all ships.” This is a mindset I try to live by, with the artists I serve and the larger music community. This means that I care about your career trajectory, not just the mixes sounding sick. If I see you wrestling with something outside the studio like brand direction, promotion, or motivation, I’ll say something. I want to help you articulate what success means for you, speak it, and own it.
The Sound I Chase
You can listen to my work and make up your own mind, but generally I aim to make records that are modern and hard hitting, but still highlight the unique character of your band. Think punk-inspired edge meets cinematic immersion.
Big guitars. Loud drums. Hooks that stick. Moments that could fuel a mosh pit. But, I also love songs that are more ambient and emotional. Vocals that are clear, passionate, and sit with the music, being neither buried nor carelessly pasted on top of it.
“I still remember where I was when I first heard my favorite records as a kid, and believe that visual and auditory memories are strongly linked. Because of this, I work to make mixes envelop the listener, so they picture themselves inside the story of the music.”
What I Can Help You With
Mixing
I’ll blend your raw tracks together into a finished song that lives and breathes, bursting with energy. This isn’t merely technical stuff like getting volume balances. For me it’s a ritual where I approach your song like a new listener, really get into it, and position every sound to create an immersive experience. This is where I truly am an artist.
Mastering
I’ll take your finished mixes and make sure they are ready to be heard in the real world. Your music needs to shine on every speaker system, compete with everything else out there, and sound consistently great across your catalog. As your mastering engineer I will be your final step of quality control, and see my role like a "closer" in a baseball game—someone to come in fresh and provide a strong finish.
Full Production
I am still taking on a limited number of full recording projects, if it is the right fit! We’ll go the whole nine yards to go over your song, set the vision, dial up sick tones YOU love and get killer takes.
